while attending to my to-do list at work
i saw a message on social media
that a company teammate’s father had died
she was devastated
….and, yet, it was the middle of the day
and i had work to do
so i did the work that needed to be done:
1. i stopped and read her words twice
and took in the photos she posted of her dad
that suddenly had become elevated in her life
to a dimension of the unimaginable
2. responded to let her know i was sorry
and here for her, feeling for her, here for her
3. moved my former to-do list to tomorrow
4. rescheduled things and thought of my mother, father, my family…
5. made plans for my family to do something…sooner
it is a good list, i think
